5 Fun and Teachable Tub Time Activities!

5 Fun and Teachable Tub Time Activities!

This winter, warm up your kids’ bodies AND their brains with a mad science bath, complete with beakers, test tubes, funnels, and more from Learning Resources’ Primary Science Deluxe Lab Set. These hands-on activities will get their minds bubbling with curiosity – and excitement – about science. Just add soap (and a few common household objects) with this science toy for kids!

1. Whip Up Some Bubbles

Everyone loves bubbles and you can put a STEM learning twist on a traditional bubble bath by letting your kids blow their own! After the tub is full of water, fill the Eyedropper included with your Primary Science Deluxe Lab with bubble bath solution or dish soap and let your kiddo squirt it into the tub. Pass them a whisk to stir up the fun!Science toy for kids, primary science creating bubbles in the bathtub

2. Build a Snow Globe

Place a favorite figurine on the lid of the Petri dish included in the Primary Science Deluxe Lab Set and use the Eyedropper to fill the lid and cover the figure with bubble solution or dish soap. Next, add a bit of water, then show your child how to blow gently through a straw to form a large bubble over the entire figurine.Science toy for kids, primary science with petri dish creating a bubble

3. Color Mixing Mania

Fill one of the test tubes included in the Primary Science Deluxe Lab Set ¾ full of water and add a few drops of blue food coloring. Repeat with the other test tube, adding a few drops of red. Have your child screw on the lids and shake (and build those fine motor skills!). Then, let your child pour the contents of the blue tube into one of the Funnels attached to the Adjustable Stand and watch as it flows into the Flask. Now have them pour the contents of the red Tube into the other Funnel and watch as the blue water in the Flask turns purple!Science toy for kids, primary science test tubes with red and blue food coloringScience toy for kids, primary science flask with food coloringScience toy for kids, primary science adjustable stand with funnel pouring into flaskScience toy for kids, primary science flask that changed color

4. Take a Guess

Ask your child to fill one of the Test Tubes with water. Then show them the Sensory Tube and ask them how many Test Tubes of water they think it will take to fill the Sensory Tube. Let your little one fill and pour the Test Tubes into the Sensory Tube and see how good their guess was. Repeat, using the Sensory Tube to fill one of the Flasks.Science toy for kids, primary science guessing game with sensory tube

5. Let Your Scientist Loose

Now that they’ve explored some of the basic tools of science, let your little scientist loose to fill, pour, funnel, and explore, giving them the hands-on experience they need to get excited about science!Science toy for kids, primary science tools all in the bathtubOnce your soapy scientist is clean and dry, help them use the tools included in the Deluxe Lab Set to conduct 20 incredible dry land experiments, from making rainbow ice and an active volcano to fireworks in a flask, tie-dye milk, and so much more.

Save it for later!
