DIY Candy Corn Butter Slime!

There isn’t a ghoul or goblin around who doesn’t love slime. But us crypt keepers don’t always love the sticky mess it can make in our homes. Making its debut on the slime scene is a “butter” version, and it might very well be the least messiest and easiest to make option out there.

Let’s craft this special slime after Halloween’s sweetest treat: candy corn!

The Science Behind It

A recipe made with glue, contact lens solution, and modeling clay, butter slime leaves out any spooky Borax or other harmful substances. The white glue used is made up of repeating, identical strands of molecules. When the contact lens solution is added, it forms a bond, connecting the strands together. By blending in the non-toxic modeling clay, elasticity is added, making traditional slime more rubbery. Magic!

Supplies

  • Three, 7.6 ounce bottles of white glue (one bottle for each color)
  • 1 ¼ cup shaving foam (not gel)
  • 7-8 teaspoons of contact solution
  • White, yellow, and orange Model Magic clay – 4 ounce each
  • 1-2 pumps of hand lotion
  • Big mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups
  • Spoons or spatulas

Experiment Time

Squirt one bottle of glue into the bowl. If you are using a bigger bottle, measure out a little over 7 ounces.

Next, add a heaping 1¼ cup of the shaving foam. Give the can a big shake before you squirt it out.

Fold in the shaving cream until its mixed together well.

Measure out 7-8 teaspoons of contact solution. As you stir, the mixture will be marshmallow-y, sticky, and should pull away from the bowl.

Grab the fluffy slime out of the bowl. Begin to roll, stretch, and pull the slime back and forth. The more the slime is worked, the less sticky it will become. (If after several minutes of kneading it remains super sticky, add some more shaving cream and contact lens solution.)

One, 4-ounce package of Model Magic modeling clay is the perfect portion to make your fluffy slime into a buttery, smooth creation. Another bonus modeling clay? No food coloring needed!

Add the clay to fluffy slime. Once again, work it, stretch it, pull it, and poke it.

Pump one to two squirts of lotion into the butter slime. This makes it perfectly smooth and satisfying!

Because we did the yellow first, all were amazed on how it does really look like actual butter! We got out a safe butter knife and cut it up!

Make the remaining colors the same way as the first. You won’t believe how smooth this version of slime becomes.

Butter slime is very light. Your little goblins can even grab a plastic straw to blow bubbles in it!

The spooky options were endless!

Without a doubt, the best part was blending the three colors together!
