Fizzy Dyed Easter Eggs

With Easter comes lots of traditions, and one of our favorites in our house is dying Easter eggs together! Want to take your Easter egg dying to the next level this year? I’ll show you how you can easily do this at home by creating a fizzy paint masterpiece!

What You Need to Create Fizzy Dyed Easter Eggs:

How to Create Fizzy Dyed Easter Eggs:

You’ll be happy to learn that not only are these fizzy dyed easter eggs, so fun to create, but they’re also so simple! Here’s how you can easily experiment with them at home:

  1. Hard-boil your eggs! Don’t feel like hard-boiling some eggs? No problem. My favorite hack is to use some dyeable plastic Easter eggs like these ones.
  2. Create baking soda paint by adding a tbsp of baking soda, a few drops of food coloring, and a tsp of water. Continue adding water until you get a smooth consistency!
  3. Pick up a paintbrush and begin painting your egg with the baking soda paint you just created.
  4. Now it’s time for your Learning Resources Twisty Droppers and vinegar.  Use the twisty droppers to drop the vinegar on top of the egg and watch the colors fizz!
  5. Let your egg air dry, or gently wipe the vinegar off with some paper towel.
  6. Grab another egg and do it all again!

Ways to Work on Language Development While Creating Fizzy Dyed Easter Eggs:

Participating in traditions like dying Easter eggs together is the perfect way to build a connection with your children while also creating opportunities for language learning!  Here are some ideas on how to build your children’s language skills while doing this activity together:

  • Following directions: Have your child help you dye the Easter eggs, and direct them on how they can help you.  Examples: “put the red paint on the egg” or “squeeze the dropper to put the vinegar on the egg.”
  • Building Vocabulary: Label all of the items you are using as you are using them….the paint, the baking soda, the eggs, all of it! Making Easter eggs is a great way to build color vocabulary too!
  • Learning Prepositions:  Easter eggs are a fun way to practice prepositions. After they are colored, hide the eggs and go on an egg hunt! Talk about putting the eggs in the grass, on the sidewalk, or under a tree. Have your child describe where they found each egg.

Now you know how to make your Easter egg dying extra fun while also building speech and language skills this year! We hope you enjoy this activity as much as we did!
